Location of our farmhouse

Casa Bella Vista enjoys an elevated position at the top of Immoglie – a small borgata of just forty or so homes – being surrounded on all sides by the natural, rural beauty of the landscape and the solitude of the mountains in this most tranquil of settings. As you would expect from its name, Casa Bella Vista has truly stunning, inspirational views. It enjoys restful sunsets from its commanding hilltop situation with rugged mountain views to San Gennaro from a quiet breakfast patio under the shade of an old cherry tree. Peaceful and rural, yet not isolated (we're just 90 minutes from both the airports of Naples and Rome), we enjoy good access roads, excellent shops in nearby villages, local produce and wines, friendly restaurants and low prices. A car is essential to enjoy the area's many interesting and historic towns and villages. However, for those preferring not to drive from Rome airport there is a fast train between central Rome and Cassino, where a car can be hired locally (more info here).

The hamlet of Immoglie is in the mountains at an altitude of 567 metres (1,860ft) in the locality of Picinisco and close to the National Park of Abruzzi, Lazio and Molise.

The National Park is a huge protected area of mountains, forests and natural parkland covering some 51,000 hectares (125,000 acres) of the Appenine mountain chain in this central region of Italy.

Day excursions can be made by car or train to Naples, Capri, Sorrento, Pompeii and the Amalfi coast; or to Rome to enjoy the sights of the Vatican, St Peter's Square, the Colleseum and the many historic attractions of 'The Eternal City'.

Immoglie is approximately 25 by car (31 kms, 19 miles) from Cassino, famous in wartime history for the WW2 Battle for Monte Cassino – the mountaintop monastery fortress. The abbey and grounds are well worth a visit and tour – stunningly silent and emotionally moving.

To the south from Cassino are the coastal towns and beaches of Gaeta, Formia and Scauri – 38 kms (24 miles), a 35-minute drive from Cassino, so just an hour from the farmhouse.

With 3 local waterparks, 3 swimming pools, children's summer camps (by the day or week), walking, biking and climbing in the national park (all grades from 'easy' up), and local winter skiing, there are many activities on offer all year round.
